Ajit Pawar NCP Probe: Solapur Soil Excavation Case

Solapur, Maharashtra ⁣A First Facts Report​ (FIR) ‍has been registered ‍against‌ a ⁣local Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) worker ‍and others for ​allegedly obstructing government officials during an operation targeting ​illegal soil excavation in⁣ kurduvadi‌ village on August 31. ⁣The ⁢case follows a widely circulated video depicting​ Deputy Chief Minister Ajit ‌Pawar sharply rebuking IPS officer Anjana Krishna, the Karmala⁢ Sub-Divisional ⁤Police Officer (SDPO), during a phone ​call​ related⁤ to the ⁣incident.According to‌ the police complaint, Revenue Officers Sudhir popat Bage and BP Shevre, alongside SDPO Krishna, her bodyguard,​ and other police personnel, were conducting enforcement against illegal mineral excavation in Kurduvadi when Baba Jagtap,⁣ along with Nitin ⁢Mali, Santosh Kapre, and Anna Dhane,⁣ allegedly ⁣disrupted​ the operation and impeded officials’ duties.

The FIR was filed on September ‍4 ⁢at kurduvadi police station.

The controversy ignited‍ after the video surfaced, showing Pawar instructing Krishna to halt ⁢action‍ against the ⁤illegal excavation. “Ek min, main tere upar action ​lunga ‍ (I will take action against you). I am myself talking to⁢ you and you are ⁣asking me to​ call you directly. You want to see me. Take my‌ number and make a⁤ WhatsApp⁣ call.How dare you?,” Pawar is heard saying in the recording.the exchange occurred after Jagtap connected Pawar to Krishna during a phone call.Krishna, reportedly unsure she was speaking⁤ with the Deputy⁣ Chief‌ Minister, requested ‌direct ⁤contact via her official ⁤number,‌ prompting ⁢Pawar’s forceful​ response.

Opposition ​leaders have criticized the incident,‌ with NCP (Sharad ‌Pawar​ faction) MP ​supriya Sule ​labeling it an assault‌ on constitutional values and Shiv Sena (UBT) ⁤leader Sanjay‌ Raut accusing Pawar of protecting illicit activities.Pawar ‌later‍ issued a⁢ clarification on X, stating ‍he intended to “de-escalate a ‍tense situation” ​and affirming ⁢his respect for the police ⁣force and the ‌rule of law. ⁤NCP⁢ leaders within Pawar’s faction have defended ⁤his actions, claiming⁣ his remarks were misinterpreted and that​ he was ​attempting to pacify ‍party workers present at the scene.
