Ludwigshafen (dpa) – The world‘s largest chemical company BASF wants to examine the proposals of the competitor Bayer to the US lawsuits because of the controversial weed killer Dicamba. An agreement on this with Bayer has not yet existed, said the Ludwigshafen-based company in an email on Thursday morning.

Bayer announced a billion dollar settlement on Wednesday evening to resolve most of the legal problems in the United States around the active ingredient glyphosate. There were also proceedings related to dicamba. Because of the herbicide drift, damage to the harvest is said to have occurred, according to the plaintiffs. Bayer says it will pay $ 400 million (around 356 million euros), but also expects a contribution from the co-sued competitor BASF, it said.
