After PGR asks Bolsonaro, Cleitinho Cobra Impeachment de Moraes

Senator Demands Senate Impeach Justice Moraes

After Prosecutor Asks for Bolsonaro’s Conviction

Senator Cleitinho Azevedo has called on the Senate to initiate impeachment proceedings against Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. This demand follows the Attorney General’s Office’s request for the conviction of former President Jair Bolsonaro and his allies in a “coup plot” investigation.

Accusations Mount Against Bolsonaro Allies

Cleitinho Azevedo, a supporter of Jair Bolsonaro, criticized the Senate for what he perceives as subservience to the Supreme Court. He publicly stated, What do you think the STF will do? Will have Bolsonaro arrest. It is the Senate, the Senate’s fault, who has always been on his knees to the STF. The senator urged his constituents to pressure their representatives to file formal requests for Moraes’ removal.

Prosecutor’s Case Details

The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) has formally requested the conviction of Jair Bolsonaro for alleged attempted coup and other offenses. Seven close associates, dubbed the “core 1,” are also implicated. The PGR is seeking compensation for damages. This filing represents the final step before the case is presented to the court’s first chamber.

The prosecution’s filing asserts that the group, spearheaded by Jair Messias Bolsonaro and comprising key government figures, military leaders, and intelligence officials, enacted a deliberate strategy to undermine democratic institutions. Their objective, according to the PGR, was to obstruct the peaceful transfer of power in the 2022 elections and compromise the independence of the judiciary.

These individuals face charges including criminal organization, attempted coup, property damage, and violent subversion of the Democratic Rule of Law. The investigation drew heavily on testimony from Mauro Cid, as well as evidence gathered from police investigations, witness statements, and digital records.
