Actor Charged in Stockton University Road Rage Shooting – Held in Custody

Galloway Township, NJ – A South Jersey actor is ​being held without​ bail following a road rage shooting that prompted a lockdown at‍ Stockton University on September 11, ⁢2025. Ernest Heinz, known​ for ‍minor roles in film, television, and video‍ games, faces attempted homicide charges.

The incident unfolded around 12:52 p.m. at a Galloway Township ⁤intersection.Authorities allege Heinz fired a ⁣single shot at another driver after ⁣a dispute while waiting at a red light. The⁣ case highlights⁢ the escalating dangers‌ of ⁤road rage and⁢ its potential to⁣ spill over into public spaces, as evidenced by the subsequent lockdown of a university campus. Heinz is scheduled to appear in⁤ court again ​on October 31.

According to Galloway Township Police Captain Mark D’Esposito, the victim reported‍ that Heinz cursed at her and threatened to kill her⁤ before ‌firing the weapon. Court documents⁣ indicate the victim was attempting to merge when Heinz’s vehicle cut her‌ off.

“As they approached the light, the male yelled ⁤at her, reached his hand out the window and fired a single shot,” D’Esposito stated.

responding officers found the victim conscious and alert ⁣with a wound to her upper nose. “Fortunately,it didn’t look like it caught anything major,and she was able to​ maintain‍ consciousness and speak to our officers. ⁢We’re very grateful she’s okay,” D’Esposito said.

Police say surveillance video captured Heinz‍ holding a⁣ handgun shortly⁢ after the shooting. Following the incident,⁣ Heinz allegedly fled to the ⁣Stockton University campus, triggering‌ a lockdown as authorities searched for him. He was later taken into custody.

Heinz’s IMDb profile lists several⁢ minor roles in⁢ movies, TV shows, and the Resident Evil video game series. He appeared before a ⁢judge on September 25, 2025, for a detention⁣ hearing and remains‍ in custody pending ‌his ‍next court date.
