Anis Hadj Moussa, the 24-year-old Algerian forward for Feyenoord Rotterdam, has been named Feyenoord’s Player of the Month for January, solidifying his rapid ascent in Dutch football. The award, announced by the club, comes after a strong January that saw him contribute two goals and two assists across all competitions.

Hadj Moussa joined Feyenoord in July 2024, and quickly established himself as a key player in the attack. His creativity and unpredictable play on the right wing have become hallmarks of Feyenoord’s offensive style. He returned from international duty with Algeria at the Africa Cup of Nations without disruption to his form, immediately impacting matches upon his return.

During the 24th matchday of the Eredivisie season, Hadj Moussa scored twice against SC Telstar, helping Feyenoord maintain their position as runners-up to PSV Eindhoven. According to Transfermarkt, his market value currently stands at €20.00 million.

Fans have affectionately nicknamed him “Hadj Potter,” drawing a comparison to Harry Potter for his perceived “magic” on the pitch, and “Hadj Messi,” in reference to Lionel Messi. Responding to the nicknames through Feyenoord’s official channels, Hadj Moussa said, “It makes me laugh, and it likewise makes me happy that people come up with nicknames like that for me. I consider it’s through my football that I give them the tools to do so. I hope to have many more. I actually prefer Hadj Potter, which refers more to magic.”

Born in Paris, France, on February 11, 2002, Hadj Moussa’s club career began with US Torcy and FC Montfermeil before he joined the RC Lens academy in 2018. He progressed through the ranks, playing for Lens’ reserve team before moving to Olympic Charleroi in Belgium in 2022. Subsequent spells at Patro Eisden and a loan period at Vitesse Arnhem preceded his move to Feyenoord. He has also represented Algeria at the U20, U23, and senior levels, earning 13 caps for the national team as of January 10, 2026.

Hadj Moussa’s performances have led to speculation about his potential to become a leading figure for the Algerian national team following the retirement of Riyad Mahrez. He featured in recent international friendlies, playing 28 minutes against Zimbabwe in a 3-1 victory and 89 minutes against Saudi Arabia in a 0-2 defeat. He also played a key role in Algeria’s UEFA Champions League qualifying matches against Fenerbahçe, starting both legs of the tie.

As of February 22, 2026, Hadj Moussa has made 51 appearances for Feyenoord, scoring 16 goals. He has also featured in eight Europa League matches this season, starting seven of them, and played in two Champions League qualifying matches.
