LSU’s 19th-ranked softball team will face McNeese State University Tuesday night in Lake Charles, Louisiana, continuing a series dominated by the Tigers. LSU currently holds a 56-13 all-time record against McNeese, with a four-game winning streak in the rivalry.
The game, scheduled for 6 p.m. CT, will be streamed on ESPN+, featuring commentary from Tom Hoefer and Mark Young. LSU (12-4) enters the contest following a successful 5-0 run at the 2026 Purple & Gold Challenge, where they secured wins over Michigan State, Howard and UL Lafayette.
LSU’s pitching staff demonstrated strength at the challenge, maintaining a 0.97 ERA and limiting opponents to a .165 batting average. They recorded two shutouts and 21 strikeouts over 29 innings. The team’s defense has also been strong, with 12 double plays this season, ranking sixth nationally.
Offensively, LSU is batting .275 with 108 hits, having outscored opponents 89-46. Sierra Daniel leads the team with a .449 batting average, 22 hits, 12 runs, and 11 RBIs, along with a .633 slugging percentage. Jalia Lassiter follows with a .413 batting average, 19 hits, a team-high 18 runs, and 11 RBIs.
Under Head Coach Beth Torina, LSU has a 21-2 record against McNeese. The Tigers have won four consecutive games against the Cowgirls, and hold a 19-6 record when playing in Lake Charles.
McNeese State currently holds a 12-5 record for the season. The Cowboys men’s basketball team recently defeated UT Rio Grande Valley 75-68, extending their winning streak to six games, led by Larry Johnson’s 20 points. Johnson also scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds in a 70-54 win against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday.
The McNeese Cowboys are 24-5 overall and currently stand second in the Southland Conference. Their schedule includes a game against New Orleans on February 28th, and a matchup against Nicholls on March 2nd.
