Hanwha Son해보험 CEO Na Chae-beom participated in a relay campaign to eradicate illegal gambling among youth, spearheaded by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, the insurer announced on Wednesday.
The campaign, titled “Protecting Youth from Illegal Gambling,” aims to raise awareness about the dangers of online gambling platforms targeting minors and to encourage reporting of illegal activities. Na’s participation underscores Hanwha Son해보험’s commitment to social responsibility and protecting vulnerable populations, according to a company statement.
Na Chae-beom assumed the role of Hanwha Son해보험’s representative director in March 2023, following a career within the Hanwha Group that included positions as head of the CPC Strategy Team in 2017 and as a full-time executive leading the Group Financial OPC Team in 2019. Prior to joining Hanwha Son해보험, he served as the head of the Management Innovation Division at Hanwha Life Insurance.
Under Na’s leadership, Hanwha Son해보험 has focused on expanding its offerings in the women’s insurance market, a strategy credited with driving the company to record profits in 2024. The insurer reported a net profit of 382.3 billion won (approximately $280 million USD) last year, a 31.5% increase from the previous year. This success led to Na being recommended as a candidate for CEO by the company’s executive candidate recommendation committee.
The company’s focus on women’s insurance included the establishment of a “Femtech Research Institute” dedicated to understanding the specific needs of female customers. This strategy is expected to continue in 2025, with a target of achieving over 10% growth in Contract Service Margin (CSM).
Despite the record profits, Hanwha Son해보험 faces challenges related to potential declines in the K-ICS (Korean Insurance Capital Standard) ratio due to adjustments in the discount rate for insurance liabilities. Na will need to balance continued growth with maintaining the company’s capital adequacy. Shareholder returns are also under scrutiny, as the company did not issue dividends despite its strong financial performance last year.
At a shareholder meeting on February 19, 2026, Na Chae-beom was re-elected as an internal director for a two-year term, alongside Seo Ji-hoon, head of the Corporate Insurance Division, and Park Sung-gyu, head of the Management Support Division. Kim Jeong-yeon, a professor at Ewha Womans University Law School, and Moon Il, a professor at Yonsei University’s Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, were re-appointed as external directors for one-year terms. New external directors, Yu Gwang-yeol, a former official from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Yang Gi-ho, former head of San은캐피탈, were also appointed for two-year terms.
