The PlayStation VR2 headset is now available for $299 at Amazon, a significant price reduction from its original launch price of $399.99, according to multiple reports.

The current deal, announced December 8, 2025, represents a 25% discount on the headset, and includes the VR2 Sense controllers. The bundle also includes a copy of Horizon Call of the Mountain, a title frequently cited as a showcase for the headset’s capabilities, according to Android Central.

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s price cut is a strategic move to revitalize the virtual reality market, as sales of the PSVR2 have lagged behind initial projections. Industry analysts estimate fewer than 1.5 million units have been sold worldwide in the first two years since its February 2023 launch, as reported by CordcuttersNews. Factors contributing to this include the headset’s initial high cost, limited exclusive content, and broader economic pressures.

The PlayStation VR2 requires a PlayStation 5 console to operate. The headset connects to the PS5 via a single USB-C cable, simplifying setup compared to the original PlayStation VR, which required additional cabling and a breakout box. The PSVR2 features 4K HDR output, a 110-degree field of view, eye tracking, and haptic feedback in both the headset and the controllers, mirroring the features of the PS5’s DualSense controller.

The headset also supports streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Apple TV, though subscriptions are required for those services. A growing library of games is available for the PSVR2, including titles like Resident Evil 7 and 8, Gran Turismo, and Hitman World of Assassination.

The deal is currently available directly through Amazon, with no coupon codes or Prime membership required.
