COVID-19 Vaccines Available in Cali – February 2026 Update

by Dr. Michael Lee – Health Editor

COVID-19 vaccines remain available in Cali, Colombia, for individuals needing to initiate or complete their vaccination schedules, the city’s health authority announced on February 18, 2026. The announcement follows the closure of 14 megacenters previously used for mass vaccination efforts.

According to a Facebook post by the Cali Public Health Secretariat, citizens can now access vaccines through their local Integrated Health Services (IPS). This shift in strategy marks a continuation of the immunization process, adapting to evolving needs and infrastructure.

As of December 13, 2024, Cali reported 366,938 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 5,740,179 cases confirmed nationally. The city’s data indicates a 94.74% recovery rate among confirmed cases and a fatality rate of 8.017. These figures reflect the ongoing impact of the virus and the importance of continued vaccination efforts.

The Colombian National Vaccination Plan aims to reduce COVID-19 mortality, decrease the incidence of severe cases and protect populations with high exposure risk. The plan also seeks to achieve herd immunity, facilitating social and economic development. The process outlines population prioritization, responsibilities of healthcare actors, and payment procedures for vaccine administration.

Vaccines work by training the immune system to recognize and combat the coronavirus, though different vaccines employ varying methods to achieve this goal. The ongoing availability of vaccines in Cali underscores the continued emphasis on vaccination as a primary tool in combating the virus.
