Ildar “Scar” Galiyev, described by prosecutors as one of Sweden’s most dangerous violent offenders, was formally indicted today following a hearing at Södertörn District Court. The 25-year-ancient, arrested in Greece last summer after a 20-month imprisonment there, now faces charges related to over 20 serious crimes, including incitement to murder and preparation for murder.
Galiyev’s arrest in Greece followed years of pursuit by Swedish police and prosecutors. He was extradited to Sweden on Tuesday and appeared via video link at the court hearing on Wednesday. He is accused of involvement in several high-profile incidents from 2023, including the townhouse explosion in Hässelby, the bombing in Fullerö that resulted in the death of a 24-year-old woman, and the shooting on Mälarhöjden’s IP where an 18-year-old man was killed, according to court documents.
The prosecution’s case has been expanded to include charges of incitement to murder in Vällingby in the autumn of 2023, and preparation for murder in Nacka in November of the same year. Galiyev, who authorities believe is a key figure in the Dalen network, is also implicated in more than 20 other serious offenses, including murder, attempted murder, and aggravated weapons offenses, according to reports.
During the hearing, Galiyev, represented by attorneys Olov Mattsson Dismats and Henrik Jacobsson, denied all charges. Dismats stated that his client “disputes the existence of probable cause in all cases and disputes the specific detention grounds and the prosecutor’s request for restrictions.” Jacobsson added that Galiyev wishes to be released from custody.
Despite the defense’s arguments, the court ruled to detain Galiyev, citing a risk of flight. The court has set a deadline of March 18th for the prosecution to formally file an indictment. According to Aftonbladet, authorities are also expected to question Galiyev regarding the 2021 murder of rapper Nils “Einár” Grönberg, though evidence directly linking him to that crime has previously been lacking.
Expressen reports that Galiyev, born in Kazakhstan and raised in Enskededalen, Stockholm, has prior convictions for narcotics offenses and attempted extortion. He is considered a “torpedo” within the Dalen network, a criminal organization involved in numerous violent incidents across Sweden.
