Five family members, including two young girls aged three and four, were found dead in a suspected murder-suicide at a home in Lorong Cerating Damai, Kuantan, Malaysia, on Tuesday morning.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman confirmed the incident occurred around 7:00 a.m. Local time. The victims include the two girls, their parents, aged 32 and 28, and their 55-year-old grandmother, according to statements released by police.

Authorities discovered the bodies of the husband, wife, and children in a bedroom, whereas the grandmother was found in the kitchen of the single-story terraced house. Initial investigations suggest the 32-year-old man used a sharp weapon, believed to be a knife, to inflict injuries on his wife, mother, and two daughters before taking his own life.

“There were victims with visible injuries,” Yahaya Othman told reporters at the scene. The incident was discovered by the suspect’s 15-year-old brother, who was present in the house and immediately alerted authorities.

Police revealed the man had returned to his family home approximately one month ago after resigning from a job in Selangor. He had only begun employment in Kuantan a week prior to the incident. The motive for the killings remains under investigation.

As of 11:35 a.m. Local time, forensic personnel were still processing the scene, and the bodies had not been removed from the residence. Investigations are ongoing, and police have not released further details regarding potential contributing factors or a timeline of events leading up to the tragedy.
