Tucson, Arizona – The Pima County Sheriff’s Office officially cleared Savannah Guthrie’s family – including siblings and spouses – as suspects in the ongoing kidnapping of the “Today” show host’s 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, according to a statement released Monday. The development comes as investigators continue to pursue leads in the case, now entering its third week and as a former Houston forensic artist publicly shared a sketch of a masked individual seen in surveillance footage from the night of the abduction.

Sheriff Chris Nanos emphasized the family’s full cooperation, stating they are “victims plain and simple.” The clearance includes Savannah Guthrie, her brother Camron, her sister Annie, and Annie’s husband, Tommaso Cioni, who was the last known person to see Nancy Guthrie before her disappearance. Nanos previously addressed online speculation surrounding Cioni, cautioning against prematurely assigning blame. “If he is guilty, if he’s the one who did it, and we’re able to prove that, then at that time jump on it, but don’t come out of nowhere with this,” he told the Daily Mail on Sunday.

The investigation centers around a doorbell camera video released by the Pima County Sheriff’s Office showing a masked person on Nancy Guthrie’s front porch the night of February 1st. Lois Gibson, a renowned former forensic artist with the Houston Police Department, said she felt “compelled” to create a sketch based on the footage, despite not being officially involved in the case. Gibson, who has a decades-long history of creating likenesses of suspects in high-profile Houston crimes, acknowledged the risk of inaccuracy but expressed confidence in her assessment. “I’m brave, and I’ll accept the hit,” she said, adding that she has spent years speaking with families of kidnapping victims.

While the Guthrie family has been eliminated as suspects, the investigation remains active. Authorities have not released details regarding potential motives or whether a ransom demand has been made. The FBI has reportedly identified a glove matching a pair worn by the individual in the surveillance video and is analyzing DNA evidence found on the glove, according to TMZ.

North Texas experts and police are weighing in on the case, noting the significance of the surveillance video as a central piece of evidence. The video, widely circulated in media reports, continues to be scrutinized for clues about the suspect’s identity and potential connections to the Guthrie family or the Tucson area. WFAA reported on the analysis of the video by experts.

As of Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office has not announced any arrests or identified a person of interest beyond the individual depicted in the surveillance footage. The investigation continues, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
