The University of Cincinnati women’s golf team begins play at the Texas Golf Throwdown on Monday, February 16, at The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands, Texas. The two-day tournament, hosted by Sam Houston State, will feature a field of 14 teams competing for the inaugural title.

Play is scheduled to begin with a 9:30 a.m. ET shotgun start each day. Monday’s schedule includes 36 continuous holes of stroke play, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday to determine the team and individual champions. The Woodlands Country Club’s West Course, a par-72 layout spanning 6,296 yards, will challenge players with its tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers.

Cincinnati’s team will consist of Mar Garcia Jimenez, Rim Imni, Ellise Rymer, Yu-Wei Chiang, and Clara Willem. Angela Gomez will participate as an individual competitor. The Bearcats are coming off a performance at the FAU Paradise Invitational, where they recorded their lowest round of the season, closing with a 286 (-2) to tie for 11th place overall.

During the FAU Paradise Invitational, Mar Garcia Jimenez led the Cincinnati team with an even-par 72 in the final round, finishing tied for 33rd. Teammate Rim Imni achieved a season-best, three-under 69, marking the first bogey-free round of her collegiate career.

The 14 teams competing at the Texas Golf Throwdown include Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, Iowa State – ranked 40th nationally – Middle Tennessee, Montana State, Murray State, Nebraska, Oral Roberts, Sam Houston State, St. Thomas, Tarleton State, Texas State, and UT Arlington. Sam Houston State is seeking to replicate its success from last year’s Bearkat Invitational, where they won the team title.
