Apple has unveiled its 2025 iPhone lineup, including the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, with pre-orders beginning September 12, 2025, and shipping commencing September 19, 2025, according to announcements made at the company’s “Awe Dropping” event on September 9, 2025.
The new lineup introduces the iPhone Air, positioned as the slimmest iPhone to date at 5.6mm thick, surpassing the previous record of 6.9mm held by the iPhone 6. Pricing for the iPhone 17 remains consistent with previous models, starting at $799/£799, but now includes 256GB of storage as standard – double the capacity of its predecessor. The iPhone Air is priced at $999/£999, a $100/£100 increase over the iPhone 16 Plus and matching the starting price of the iPhone 16 Pro. The iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099/£1,099, likewise with doubled storage to 256GB, although the iPhone 17 Pro Max maintains its price point of $1,199/£1,199.
All four models are powered by variants of the A19 chip, with the iPhone 17 utilizing the A19, and the iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max featuring the more powerful A19 Pro. Apple has also upgraded the camera systems across the entire range, including a new 18MP Center Stage front-facing camera for improved selfies and video calls. The iPhone 17 boasts a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with 3000 nits peak brightness and ProMotion technology offering refresh rates up to 120Hz.
The iPhone 17 incorporates a Ceramic Shield 2 front cover, offering three times better scratch resistance compared to previous models. A new Action button provides customizable access to features like Silent mode, Translation, and Shortcuts. The Dynamic Island continues to provide Live Activities and alerts. The base iPhone 17 features a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system, while the Pro models are expected to offer further camera enhancements.
All models include Always-On and ProMotion displays, extending the 120Hz refresh rate to the standard iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, previously exclusive to the Pro versions. Apple claims improved battery life across the entire 2025 iPhone lineup. The iPhone 17 is available in five colors: Lavender, Sage, Mist Blue, White, and Black.
