Berlin’s 76th International Film Festival kicked off with a glittering event, “A Night to Remember,” hosted by Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios on February 11, 2026. The event, held at VON GREIFSWALD in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg, drew over 600 guests from the entertainment and media industries, signaling a strong industry presence ahead of the festival’s official opening on February 12th.
The evening served as a platform for Prime Video to preview upcoming projects, including a film adaptation of Sebastian Fitzek’s bestseller, Der erste letzte Tag, starring Christoph Schechinger and Sarah Mahita. The company showcased the Prime Original-Film Drive – The Pretenders, the Prime Original-Series The Game of Keys, and a new film featuring the Elevator Boys, Back to the 90s. A significant announcement was the casting of Tedros “Teddy” Teclebrhan in the lead role of The Prototype, a new Prime Original film.
Philip Pratt, Head of Deutsche Originals at Amazon MGM Studios, Verena Schilling, Head of Film, and Petra Hengge, Head of Series at Amazon MGM Studios, welcomed guests to the event, reflecting on the successes of 2025 and outlining plans for the year ahead. The Berlinale itself, established in 1951, is recognized as one of the world’s most significant film festivals. This year’s festival opened with the Afghan drama, No Good Men.
Beyond the formal announcements, attendees at “A Night to Remember” were asked about their recent cinematic experiences, with the aim of providing film recommendations for audiences. A video capturing these recommendations was released, timed to coincide with the approaching Valentine’s Day, offering inspiration for date-night viewing.
