“alexa+ is much better than the original Alexa, so we’re trying to get it to as many people as possible,” said an Amazon spokesperson. “We told customers about the update and how to go back to the old version.”
Amazon says it’s only updating Prime members with devices that work with Alexa+ Early Access right now. Alexa+ is free for now, and Prime members will keep getting it for free when it’s fully released. But it will cost $20 a month for people who aren’t Prime members.Lots of devices work with it,including the first versions of the Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, Echo spot, and even Echo Plus. Many Fire TV and Fire tablet devices also work with it, so if you’re a prime member and have a lot of Amazon devices, you might see Alexa+ on several of them.
