Well, folks. Here we are again. In the seemingly never-ending saga of the Trump phone, there’s another questionable progress—a number attached to it! This refers to preorders of the T1, Trump Mobile’s gold-colored phone that hasn’t shipped despite $100 deposits being taken since June. According to The Verge, the phone now allegedly has nearly 600,000 preorders.
However, verifying this number is proving difficult. The figure appears to originate from a facebook post from December, which has since been amplified on X’s Grok AI and even by the press office for California Governor gavin Newsom.
Currently, there’s no reliable data on how many people have actually spent money on the T1,nor concrete proof the phone even exists. This alleged preorder figure surfaced as Democratic lawmakers urged the FTC to investigate Trump Mobile’s “bait-and-switch tactics,” particularly its broken promise of U.S. manufacturing. An American-made version of the T1 is not currently feasible.
The situation remains murky, with potentially fabricated preorder numbers adding to the existing uncertainty surrounding the device. Beyond selling refurbished iPhones and Samsung Galaxies, the project is now plagued by questionable figures. The FTC inquiry is unlikely to yield results, reflecting a broader lack of accountability.
