Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Development Involved extensive external Support, Including Next Level Games

AUSTIN, TX – The credits for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond reveal a surprisingly extensive list of external development studios that assisted in the game’s creation, including Next Level Games – the studio behind Metroid Prime: Federation Force and now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nintendo. This collaborative effort underscores the scale of the project and Nintendo’s reliance on a network of support teams to deliver the highly anticipated sequel.

The full credits list over 20 studios contributing to Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, alongside Retro Studios, the primary developer. Next Level Games is specifically credited with contributions from developers Matt McTavish, Cavin Yen, mark Blanchin, and Christopher Rice. Other studios involved include Virtuos, Territory Studio, Waterproof, Keywords Studios, Liquid Development, and many more, highlighting a broad range of expertise brought to bear on the game’s development.

Beyond development support, the game also features new creative contributions. Longtime Metroid producer Kensuke Tanabe authored the in-game scan text, while Erin Yvette voices Samus Aran, taking over from Jennifer Hale who voiced the character in the original Prime trilogy, with motion capture provided by Krystle Martin.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has been met with critical acclaim, earning a 9/10 score from Nintendo Life, who praised its ability to “replicate that magical sense of discovery from the GameCube original while pushing the series in some amazing new directions.” The game launches this week for the Nintendo Switch 2.
