“Babylon Berlin” Concludes production on Final season

Berlin, Germany – Production has wrapped on the fifth and final season of the critically acclaimed‍ German neo-noir drama Babylon Berlin, adapted from Volker Kutscher’s novel The March Fallen. The series, which debuted in 2017 ⁢and ⁤became the moast expensive German-language production in history, will be set in Febuary ​1933, during the final days of the Weimar Republic as the⁤ Nazi party rises to ⁤power.

the ​final season reunites ⁢detectives Gereon‌ Rath (Volker Bruch) and Charlotte Ritter (Liv Lisa Fries) for one last ​case⁤ involving a series of murders targeting former ‌front-line soldiers, a⁤ mystery that will⁤ connect ⁣to Gereon’s past ​and the emerging fascist ⁢leadership. A first-look ⁣image reveals the pair dancing at the 1933 press ball, the last major social event in Berlin before the Nazi takeover.

Series co-creators Tom Tykwer, henk Handloegten, and Achim​ von Borries described ‍the⁢ season as a culmination of the characters’ journeys, stating, “All⁢ our characters are​ now finally called upon to show ‌their true colors in a system that ⁢is being turned upside down before⁣ their eyes.‌ They fight, dance, implore, betray, sing, scream, ⁢hate, and love as if ther was ​no tomorrow.”

Returning cast⁤ members include Lars Eidinger as Alfred Nyssen,‍ Christian Friedel as reinhold Gräf, Hannah Herzsprung as Helga Rath, Karl Markovics as Samuel Katelbach, and⁤ Fritzi ⁤Haberlandt as Elisabeth Behnke. British musician Bryan Ferry, who​ re-interpreted his and Roxy‌ Music’s songs in a 1920s jazz style for the series soundtrack, will also appear in dance​ hall scenes. His 2018 album, “Bitter-Sweet,” was inspired by his⁢ work on babylon berlin.

Season 5 will premiere on German public channel ARD and will be available ‍in ‍the U.S. on ‍streaming service MHz ⁤Choice. The series‍ has been sold ⁤to ‌over 140 territories worldwide,lauded ⁤for its blend of crime drama,past recreation,and distinctive ⁣period aesthetic.
