Stockton, California – A shooting at a child’s birthday party in Stockton, California, on Saturday evening left four people dead and at least ten others wounded, authorities saeid. The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. near the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue, inside a banquet hall.
The shooting unfolded during Thanksgiving weekend, a time traditionally reserved for family gatherings and celebrations. the victims included both children and adults, according to Stockton Mayor christina Fugazi, who stated, “Regrettably tonight, heaven is a little bigger with the individuals, children and adults that unfortunately did not make it.”
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and are exploring the possibility that it was a targeted incident. “Early indications suggest this may be a targeted incident, and investigators are exploring all possibilities,” police stated.
The banquet hall is located in a commercial area, sharing a parking lot with other businesses. several victims were transported to local hospitals, though their conditions have not yet been released.
stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee confirmed the location of the shooting in a Facebook post, adding that he is in contact with staff and public safety officials seeking answers.
Authorities are urging anyone with details, video footage, or who may have witnessed the incident to contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. California Governor Gavin Newsom has been briefed on the shooting, according to his office.
Stockton is located approximately 50 miles east of San Francisco.
