Kelly Harvey-Sonnemans: Connecting Inner Wellbeing with Outer Radiance
Kelly Harvey-Sonnemans of Kelly’s Beauty & Bodycare believes true beauty stems from a holistic approach, addressing both inner and outer wellbeing. Her salon isn’t just about the latest skin treatments and permanent make-up (PMU); it’s a space dedicated to helping clients rediscover confidence and self-care. “I like to help peopel shine again – inside and out,” she explains.
Kelly emphasizes that visible skin advancement requires time, patience, and the right products. She utilizes HydroPeptide, a skincare line featuring peptides – proteins – designed to activate the skin. “After a few weeks you can often see a clear difference,” she notes.
Her philosophy extends beyond topical solutions, recognizing a strong connection between skin health and gut health. ”I strongly beleive that the skin and intestines are connected,” Kelly shares. She regularly incorporates bowel cleansing programs and mindful eating into her routine, pointing out that “sugar causes saccharification of the skin and spicy food can worsen rosacea.”
Kelly’s Beauty & Bodycare also offers energetic treatments, a path she pursued through personal exploration. After finding peace through training in reiki, breathwork, and energetic work, she now offers these modalities to her clients. ”People frequently enough come with a skin problem, but sometimes there is something deeper underneath: stress, beliefs, emotions,” she explains. Energetic treatments, breathwork, or biotensor sessions aim to help clients relax and release what holds them back.
“If you feel better about yourself, you radiate that. Literally and figuratively. And no, that’s not vague. I am very down to earth and test everything on myself first. I onyl apply what works.” Kelly prioritizes practical request and honesty. “I am honest and transparent. I don’t promise miracles, but I explain clearly what is realistic.“
She highlights the importance of shifting from a constant state of ”on” to activating the parasympathetic nervous system – the body’s rest and recovery mode. The parasympathetic system is characterized by a lower heart rate, calmer breathing, improved digestion, and relaxed muscles, offering a counterbalance to the “accelerator” of the sympathetic system.
Looking to the future, Kelly envisions integrating skin improvement and energetic work even more seamlessly.”My dream for the future is that I can bring the two worlds…together even more for the well-being of the customer,” she says. She plans to offer programs that focus on holistic self-care, empowering clients to become more aware of their bodies and minds. “This is precisely what makes people feel better about themselves. Literally and figuratively.”
