Hutchison 3 Austria is exiting the server housing business, discontinuing its data center services effective instantly. The move impacts Austrian customers currently utilizing Drei‘s colocation facilities.
The decision comes as Hutchison 3 Austria, part of 3Group Europe and a subsidiary of CK Hutchison Holdings Limited, refocuses its business strategy. While the company will cease offering server housing, its cloud and hosting portfolio for Austrian customers will remain unaffected. Existing customers are being informed and offered choice solutions, with some being encouraged to switch to Next Layer, a competitor offering gigabit Ethernet bandwidth, IPv6, and redundant connections at no extra cost. The shift reflects a broader trend in the telecommunications industry towards cloud-based services and away from traditional data center infrastructure.
