Bayern Munich Secures Midfielder Momoko Tanikawa with Contract Extension Through 2029
MUNICH – Bayern Munich has announced a contract extension for women’s team midfielder Momoko Tanikawa,keeping the Japanese international with the club through 2029. The deal rewards a breakout season for the 20-year-old and signals Bayern’s commitment to building a competitive squad for years to come.
Tanikawa initially joined Bayern in January 2024,spending a subsequent year with Swedish side Rosengård before returning to Munich at the start of the current year. She quickly became a key contributor, playing a important role in Bayern’s Frauen Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal Frauen double last season. Tanikawa also showcased her talent on the international stage, leading Bayern to victory in the inaugural World Sevens tournament where she earned both Top Scorer and Best player honors.
The Nagoya native has continued her notable form this season, recently scoring three goals in consecutive away matches against Paris Saint-Germain and TSG Hoffenheim.
