Venture Global Secures Long-Term LNG Supply Deal with Tokyo Gas
Washington, D.C.- Venture Global LNG, a U.S.-based energy company, and Tokyo Gas, a major Japanese utility, announced a 20-year Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) today, November 26, 2025, for the supply of 1 million tonnes per annum (Mt/year) of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Deliveries are slated to begin in 2030. The agreement underscores growing energy ties between the United States and Japan, and expands Venture Global’s portfolio of long-term supply contracts.
this deal follows a similar agreement reached earlier in November with Japan’s Mitsui & Co. for 1 Mt/year of LNG, commencing in 2029. combined, these SPAs represent nearly 8 Mt/year of contracted LNG sales for Venture Global within the last six months.
The United States currently holds the position of the world’s largest LNG exporter,while Japan is the second-largest importer,trailing only China.To meet increasing global demand, Venture Global is actively expanding its infrastructure. In November 2025, the company filed an submission with the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to advance its Plaquemines LNG brownfield expansion project in Louisiana. This expansion is projected to add 30 Mt/year of capacity to the facility, which currently boasts a peak capacity of almost 28 Mt/year.
Venture Global currently has over 100 Mt/year of LNG capacity in production, under construction, or in development, positioning the company as a significant player in the global LNG market.
