BIRMINGHAM,Ala. – Alabama women’s basketball freshman Ace Austin has been recognized as a Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. The honor marks the first of Austin’s collegiate career.
Austin, a native of spring garden, Alabama, earned the accolade following a standout week that included a career-high scoring performance. She delivered 21 points off the bench in the Crimson Tide’s 84-45 victory over Samford on November 19, adding a team-best five assists in 30 minutes of play. This recognition highlights Austin’s growing impact on the Alabama program and signals a strong start to her freshman season.
The freshman guard has quickly become a key contributor for the Crimson Tide, recording her third double-figure scoring game of the year with 17 points against Harvard in the Pink Flamingo Championship. austin is the first Alabama freshman to achieve consecutive double-digit scoring games as Essence Cody during the 2023-24 season.
Currently,Austin averages 13.8 points per game, ranking third highest on the team.
