Vietnam Scholarships: Lotte Foundation Awards $45,000 to Students

Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – November ⁢24, ⁣2024 ⁣- The Lotte⁣ foundation today announced the recipients‍ of its “Shin Kyuk-ho Lotte Global Scholarships 2025,” awarding ​$45,000 (66 million won) ​to ⁤100 outstanding Vietnamese students across ten universities.the scholarships, presented in simultaneous ceremonies in ⁤Hanoi and ‍Ho Chi ‌Minh City, represent a significant investment in the next generation⁢ of ‍vietnamese talent and a continued commitment to educational support in Southeast ⁤Asia.

This year’s awards‍ build on the Lotte Foundation’s long-term ​dedication to fostering global leadership. ‌The scholarships ​aim to empower promising students to excel in their studies and contribute ‌to both Vietnam’s development and ⁤the broader international community. Each student will receive‌ a $450 (approximately) individual scholarship,providing crucial​ financial assistance ⁣for educational pursuits.

The 100‍ scholarship ‌winners were selected through a competitive‌ process following recommendations from the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training ⁢(MOET). Since ‍its inception in​ 2008,the Shin⁤ Kyuk-ho Lotte⁢ Global ⁣Scholarship Foundation⁢ has‍ provided nearly ​$1.23 million (1.7⁣ billion won) in scholarships to Vietnamese students.

The foundation’s reach extends beyond Vietnam, currently‌ operating in⁤ Indonesia, ⁤Cambodia, and the Philippines, having supported almost 7,000 students‍ wiht over $3.8⁢ billion won in scholarships overall.

“Lotte Hotel and several ‌subsidiaries of the⁢ group have‌ been established in Vietnam⁣ for ‍many years,” stated Jang Hye-seon,⁢ president⁢ of the Lotte ​Foundation.​ “Through these ‍scholarships, we wish to encourage Vietnamese students not only to become leaders in their country, but to strive for global excellence through rigorous ⁤and ambitious training.”
