BETHLEHEM,N.Y. – A head-on collision on State Route 85 in Bethlehem sent three people to local hospitals Saturday evening, authorities said. The roadway was fully closed for over four hours while emergency crews worked the scene and police investigated.
The crash occurred around 5:15 p.m. between Blessing Road and the New York State Thruway. According to the Bethlehem Police Department, one vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with another. Passengers in both cars required extrication by the Slingerlands Fire Department.
Police have charged the driver who crossed the lane with a lane usage violation. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. State Route 85 reopened to traffic after 9:30 p.m.
