LONDON – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer indicated that former Prince Andrew should cooperate with a U.S. congressional investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, adding pressure on the Duke of York to provide testimony. While declining to comment specifically on andrew’s case, Starmer stated that individuals with relevant information regarding such investigations should provide evidence to authorities, speaking to reporters at the Group of 20 summit in Johannesburg.
The comments follow a request from the House Oversight Committee for a “transcribed interview” with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor regarding his “long-standing friendship” with convicted sex offender Epstein. Andrew, who was stripped of his royal titles and honors last month amid scrutiny over his association with Epstein, has so far not responded to the committee’s request.Representatives Robert Garcia of California, the committee’s ranking Democrat, and Suhas Subramanyam of Virginia, have accused Andrew of “continuing to hide” from questioning. They affirmed the committee’s commitment to pursuing the investigation regardless of Andrew’s participation, stating,”Our work will move forward with or without him,and we will hold anyone who was involved in these crimes accountable,no matter their wealth, status or political party.” the committee reiterated its dedication to ”get justice for the survivors.”
