Actress Erika Ivancsic Warns of Complex Card Cloning Scheme following Personal Loss

Debrecen, Hungary – Actress Erika Ivancsic has publicly shared her experience as a victim of card cloning, highlighting a growing trend impacting numerous bank customers in Hungary. Ivancsic, known for her role in the series Neighbors, detailed her ordeal after filing a complaint with her bank, revealing a possibly widespread issue despite her diligent security practices. The case underscores increasing concerns about financial fraud and the challenges victims face in recovering stolen funds.

Ivancsic discovered unauthorized charges on her card despite consistently avoiding direct card number entry during online transactions, opting instead for cash on delivery. “I never took my card out of my hands when I ordered online,” she stated. “I always paid by cash on delivery, precisely so that I wouldn’t have to write down the card number. They stole it though…” While Ivancsic’s loss is currently undisclosed, an investigator informed her of another victim in Debrecen who suffered a loss of HUF 800,000 due to card cloning. The bank has been slow to respond, leaving Ivancsic “running after my money” two weeks after filing her complaint. A growing group of bank victims, including Ivancsic, are reporting similar experiences, raising questions about the security of financial systems and bank responsiveness.

To mitigate risk,Ivancsic recommends several preventative measures: setting low transaction limits on cards, utilizing single-use card options offered by some banks, and strictly avoiding sharing card numbers. “Let’s pay attention, because it seems that the criminals are ‘watching’ us even more…” she cautioned. A video featuring Ivancsic and her mentee addressing the issue was reportedly taken down from Facebook, further fueling concerns about the scope of the problem and potential attempts to suppress facts. The situation remains fluid as investigations continue and victims seek restitution.
