Cosenza Cracks Down on Illegal Dumping with New Surveillance System
Cosenza, Italy – The city of Cosenza is taking a firm stance against illegal dumping, with Mayor Franz Caruso announcing the first prosperous prosecutions thanks to a newly implemented video surveillance system. Strategic cameras placed throughout the city are already identifying individuals responsible for littering and abandoning waste, resulting in significant fines.
“The battle against those who disrespect our city is beginning to yield results,” stated Mayor Caruso. “We announced a zero-tolerance policy, and we are delivering on that promise.”
The Mayor emphasized the system is targeting individuals who deliberately flout regulations, contrasting them with the majority of Cosenza residents who demonstrate respect for their community. He also acknowledged the ongoing efforts to clean up affected areas, citing the recent thorough cleaning of the San Francesco d’Assisi area – a location repeatedly targeted by illegal dumpers despite previous clean-up initiatives.
“Despite repeated appeals for public order, the problem persisted,” Caruso explained. “Now,with these video traps and a rigorous enforcement approach,we are confident we can curb this unacceptable behavior.”
The initiative is being supported by Councilor Pasquale Unknown, whose dedication to city beautification was praised by the Mayor. The city plans to continue expanding the surveillance network and maintaining a firm approach to enforcement in an effort to restore and preserve the dignity of Cosenza’s public spaces.
