Max Verstappen Eyes Home Sim Racing Setup to Rival Red Bull’s Advanced Facility
DAYTONA BEACH, FL – Reigning Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen revealed he is contemplating building a dedicated simulator room in a future home, potentially approaching the scale of the state-of-the-art facility at Red Bull Racing headquarters in Milton Keynes. The proclamation underscores Verstappen’s deep commitment to sim racing, a discipline he credits with enhancing his real-world performance and fostering talent within his Team Redline institution.
Verstappen’s interest extends beyond casual gaming. He’s a proven competitor in virtual motorsport, consistently achieving victories in major iRacing events like the Bathurst 12 Hours,Spa 24 Hours, petit Le Mans, and Daytona 24. This dedication isn’t merely a hobby; it’s a strategic element of his racing preparation and a pathway for aspiring racers. The potential for a personal, high-fidelity simulator reflects the growing importance of sim racing as a training tool and a competitive arena in its own right.
The Oracle Red Bull Racing driver discussed the possibility while reflecting on his extensive simulator use. “Maybe not as big as the one in milton Keynes, but it’s something that I’m thinking about,” Verstappen saeid.
Verstappen’s Team Redline has become a dominant force in sim racing, achieving significant wins and providing opportunities for drivers to transition into real-world motorsport. In 2024 alone, Verstappen completed a sweep of iRacing’s 24-hour special events, securing victories at Daytona, the Nürburgring, and Spa, solidifying his reputation as a top-tier sim racer.
His success in the virtual world has demonstrably translated to on-track gains. Verstappen and teammate Chris Lulham recently won on their GT3 race debut at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, a result Verstappen attributes to their sim racing preparation. This performance prompted Germany’s motorsport federation to revise its licensing criteria, easing the path for sim racers to obtain a DMSB Permit Nordschleife license. Verstappen has consistently maintained that simulator work directly improves his performance in Formula 1.
