SG Erlensee-Langenselbold Enjoy a Successful Basketball Weekend with Three Victories
SG Erlensee-Langenselbold experienced a highly successful weekend in basketball, securing wins for all three of their teams.
SG ERLA 2 started their match against Hausen with a challenging first quarter, leading only 20:16 against teh bottom-ranked team. Though, the introduction of key players like Faruk Katatovic and Javier Rubio in the second quarter shifted the momentum, resulting in a comfortable 40:23 halftime lead. Coach Smith utilized the third quarter to give all players court time, maintaining a 20-point advantage and entering the final quarter at 64:44. The team ultimately secured a decisive victory,finishing with a score of 93:52. Coach Todd smith praised the team’s strong defensive performance, noting, “I especially liked the defense. Onc again we allowed fewer than 60 points.”
The SG ERLA women faced a tight contest against oberursel in the district league,ultimately winning 50:46 in a hard-fought game. They began strongly, leading 10:7 after the first quarter, and extended their lead to 32:21 by halftime. The third quarter saw a back-and-forth exchange,leaving them ahead 44:35 heading into the final period. Oberursel mounted a comeback with aggressive play, narrowing the gap to four points, but captain C. Kasap led the team to hold onto their lead and secure the 50:46 victory.
The first men’s team faced a tougher challenge against a higher-ranked opponent in Friedberg. The game was closely contested from the start, with Friedberg utilizing their size advantage to lead 20:17 at the end of the first quarter.Luca raudnitzky and Eric Heinrich kept SG ERLA in contention with their speed and agility. Andrej Korostin contributed 8 points to give SG ERLA a 38:36 lead at halftime.
Coach Can Tamer emphasized aggressive defense during the halftime break, a strategy that proved effective. Centers Dennis Müller, Mario Brand, and Alexander Baumgarte particularly excelled in defending the basket, helping SG ERLA build a 13-point lead. They entered the fourth quarter leading 59:46 and ultimately won the game 79:60, holding Friedberg to 60 points overall.
