U-Next Secures LPGA Tour Rights in major Golf Expansion
Japanese streaming service U-Next has significantly expanded its golf portfolio with a new agreement to broadcast the LPGA Tour and women’s major championships, adding to existing rights including coverage of the PGA Tour, DP world Tour, and the new TGL series co-founded by Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods.
The deal underscores U-Next’s commitment to becoming a central hub for golf fans in Japan, capitalizing on the rising popularity of Japanese players on the international stage. To accommodate its growing golf content, U-Next has launched the “World Golf Pack,” a new subscription bundle priced at 2,600 yen per month ($16.70) offering on-demand access to archived tournaments and live coverage of major tour events.
“In recent years, the world of women’s golf has seen a surge in talented and popular players from Japan taking to the world stage,” said Tenshin Tsutsumi, president and chief executive of U-Next. “We will do our utmost to share the stories of Japanese athletes taking on the world stage, and also the appeal of the LPGA Tour, the world’s highest level of women’s golf.”
The acquisition effectively consolidates coverage of nearly all major global golf tours and tournaments on the U-Next platform, positioning the streaming service as a key player in the Japanese sports broadcasting market and aiming to further develop the sport’s fanbase within the country.
