NFL Player Kris Boyd Critically Injured in Manhattan Shooting
NEW YORK, NY – New York Jets cornerback Kris boyd is in critical condition after being shot twice in teh stomach outside a Midtown Manhattan restaurant early Sunday morning, according to police. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on 38th Street near seventh Avenue.
Boyd, 29, was with a group of friends when an argument escalated and gunfire erupted, sources told The New York Post. It remains unclear if boyd was the intended target. The shooter fled the scene in a BMW X6, and a silver Mercedes-Benz Maybach was also reported leaving the area following the shooting.
The Jets released a brief statement acknowledging the situation: “We are aware of the situation surrounding Kris Boyd and are not making any further comment at this time.”
Police have made no arrests as of Sunday afternoon, and the inquiry is ongoing. Witnesses have reportedly been uncooperative with authorities.
Boyd signed with the Jets in March but has not yet played a game for the team. He previously played for the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, and Houston Texans. He is currently on the Jets’ injured list.
