BERKELEY, CA – The California Golden Bears women’s basketball team will host its annual Raising The B.A.R. Invitational this weekend at Haas Pavilion, welcoming Pacific, Santa Clara, and UT Arlington for a series of games beginning friday, November 17th. this marks the continuation of a tradition designed to showcase Cal’s program and provide challenging early-season competition.
The invitational arrives as the Bears are demonstrating early-season strength, highlighted by a 60-52 victory over Pacific on Tuesday. Cal has already held opponents to 52 points or less in two games this season,exceeding their total from the entire 2023-24 campaign. The team boasts a 13-game winning streak in regular season nonconference games played at Haas Pavilion,dating back to the 2023-24 season.
In the win against Pacific, Lulu Twidale led the scoring with 19 points, shooting a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line, and adding six rebounds. Gisella Maul and Taylor Barnes each secured a career-high eight rebounds. Mjracle Sheppard provided a defensive boost with two steals in the third quarter, sparking a 9-0 run, while Naya Ojukwu contributed seven crucial points in the final five minutes, including a three-point play with 1:07 remaining. Cal’s defense also stifled Pacific for nearly 12 minutes spanning the first and second quarters.
Freshman Taylor Barnes currently ranks among the top five ACC freshmen in total points, rebounds, and assists (as of November 11th). Lulu Twidale is experiencing her best rebounding stretch in her career with 7, 4, and 6 rebounds in the first three games. Mjracle Sheppard’s seven steals place her seventh in the ACC.
