Bomb Found Near Kassel’s Auestadion Prompts Evacuation, Traffic Closures
Kassel, Germany – Police have cordoned off a large area around the Auestadion in Kassel after the discovery of a 250-kilogram English-designed bomb. The explosive ordnance disposal service arrived on scene around 4 p.m. local time and has as expanded the exclusion radius to 500 meters.
Approximately 2,500 residents are within the affected zone, alongside the Auestadion sports facilities and the new interim state theater.Authorities have closed frankfurter strasse,Ludwig-Mond-Strasse,and the access road to the motorway,causing meaningful disruptions to local public transport and vehicle traffic. A precautionary 100-meter safety radius was initially established upon the bomb’s discovery. Defusing operations will begin once the evacuation is complete, though the duration remains unknown.
