Boosie BadAzz Expresses Confidence in Receiving Presidential Pardon from Donald Trump
Rapper Boosie badazz remains optimistic about securing a pardon from president Donald Trump as his November 21 sentencing date approaches for a federal firearm charge. The Louisiana artist publicly appealed to Trump for clemency, citing a legal argument regarding non-violent felony firearm charges.
Boosie, whose real name is Torrence Hatch, believes his “loud voice” will be heard by the President adn is actively pursuing a pardon. This comes as Trump has previously granted clemency to several other rappers, including NBA YoungBoy earlier this year, Lil Wayne in 2020, and kodak Black thru a commutation. A pardon would allow boosie to resume international travel, which has been restricted due to the ongoing case since 2023.
The rapper pled guilty in August to the federal firearm charge. At the time, he stated his desire to resolve the case and “get on with my life.” He further elaborated on the legal basis for his pardon request in a post on X (formerly Twitter), arguing his case aligns with US vs Duarte, a ruling deemed unconstitutional.
“@realDonaldTrump CAN U PARDON ME ON MY FED CASE?” Boosie wrote on X. “I’m a NON VIOLENT FELON. THE COURTS RULED THAT a NON VIOLENT CANNOT BE CHARGED WITH A 922g .THE JUDGE DISMISSED MY CASE BUT THE RULING HAS BEEN APPEALED!! SO ONCE AGAIN I WAS INDICTED IM FIGHTING THIS CASE!! THIS IS THE EXACT CASE to US VS DUARTE THAT WAS RULED UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!”
Despite the pending sentencing, Boosie remains focused on his career, with a joint project with NBA YoungBoy, 225 Business, scheduled for release on November 14. He told TMZ he “feel[s] good about [his] situation” and is “confident” regarding the outcome.
