Leica Enters Home Cinema with 300-Inch Cine Play 1 Plus Projector
Leica has expanded its product line beyond cameras and optics with the launch of the Cine Play 1 Plus projector, capable of displaying images up to 300 inches. Priced at 11,888 Yuan (approximately $1,650 USD) in China, the projector aims to deliver a premium home theater experience, challenging the dominance of large-screen televisions.
The arrival of the Cine Play 1 Plus signals a growing trend of high-end manufacturers entering the home projector market, offering consumers alternatives to conventional displays. This move caters to a demand for immersive viewing experiences, particularly as projector technology advances in image quality and ease of use. The projector’s features, including support for advanced HDR formats and a Leica Summicron lens, position it as a competitor in the luxury home entertainment segment.
The Cine Play 1 Plus boasts both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ compatibility for enhanced image quality, alongside DTS Virtual:X technology for immersive audio. Leica’s signature Summicron lens, a hallmark of its optical engineering, is included, setting it apart from many competitors.
Internally, the projector is powered by a MT9655 SoC and features 10W stereo speakers. It runs on the VIDAA OS, providing access to popular streaming services like Netflix. Connectivity options include HDMI 2.1, USB, and Ethernet ports. A built-in tilt stand is included, with an optional stand available for increased stability.
In China, the projector is available for 11,888 Yuan, while a package including the optional stand is priced at 13,887 Yuan (around IDR 32 million, or approximately $2,030 USD).
