Petriolo Celebrates Autumn with “Lu Pruì’ de Sa’ Mmartì'” Festival
Petriolo (Macerata), November 6, 2024 – The seventh edition of “Lu Pruì’ de Sa’ Mmartì'” kicks off this weekend in Petriolo’s Piazza Umberto I, a vibrant celebration of the town’s patron saint, San Martino, and the arrival of autumn. Organized by ProPetriolo 2000 (“Le Cantinette”) with the support of the Municipality and collaborations with Orastrana and Genitori Petriolo, the festival promises a weekend filled with conventional flavors, lively music, and community spirit.
Attendees can look forward to indulging in seasonal delights like roasted chestnuts, warming mulled wine, grilled meats, and local desserts. The musical lineup is a major draw, beginning Saturday evening with the energetic performance of “Oh my Trio!” – featuring Lorenzo Girelli, Mauro Rosati, and Luca Cingolani – who will perform a mix of Italian and international classics designed to get everyone dancing. Following them, eclectic DJ and sound artist NooZ (Ugo Torresi) will take the stage, bringing his two decades of experience performing in diverse venues across the Marche region.
Sunday’s programme blends tradition and entertainment. The day begins with a solemn procession and mass at the Shrine, honoring those lost in war. Afterwards, visitors can savor “lu cuticùsu,” a hearty broad bean soup traditional to Petriolo in November, at the headquarters of the Fighters and Veterans Association starting at midday. A children’s autumn workshop, organized by the Petriolo Parents group, will take place in the square at 3pm.
The festival also includes the presentation of a new series of limited-edition postcards commemorating the fifth centenary of the Madonna della Misericordia of Petriolo’s arrival,available for purchase on site at 5pm. Throughout the weekend, the renowned stornellatori of Petriolo will entertain with their improvisational verses in the local dialect. The festivities culminate Sunday evening with a DJ set by Di Sciamano, promising a vibrant atmosphere.
Leading up to the event, Orastrana released a video clip featuring a song with poetic dialect lyrics by Carlo Natali, performed by Simone acciarresi and Elia Salvucci alongside members of the pro Loco, further building anticipation for this autumnal celebration of music, food, and community.
