Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie, 22, was reportedly threatened with a firearm in north London on September 6th, prompting a police inquiry and club support for the player and his family.A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail pending further inquiries.
Metropolitan Police officers responded to reports of the threat occurring at approximately 11:14 PM on Cockfosters Parade,Barnet. The investigation expanded to include allegations that the same individual also blackmailed and threatened another man in his 20s. No injuries were reported in either case.
Spurs released a statement following their 4-0 Champions League victory over FC Copenhagen on tuesday,confirming thay have been providing support to Udogie and his family as the incident and will continue to do so. “Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further,” a club spokesman said.
Police arrested the suspect on September 8th on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail, and driving without a license.
Udogie joined Tottenham from Udinese for a reported £15 million in 2022, signing a five-year contract.He spent the 2022-23 season on loan with udinese before making his competitive debut for Spurs in the summer of 2023. He is an Italian international.
