Mornico Losana, Italy – The Meiland family’s Italian adventure is off to a characteristically candid start, with brother Martien expressing initial reservations about their new holiday home in Chateau Meiland: La Dolce Vita. Despite arriving to praise from Erica and Maxime-who described the property as “amazing” and “very beautiful”-Martien’s brother Jaap initially dismissed it as “old junk” and “not looking like much.”
The family’s journey to the picturesque village of Mornico Losana was punctuated by Jaap’s running commentary, including questioning the location (“Do you even want to be found here?”) and the flooring choices of the home (“What poor floors, man. Couldn’t you have done a nice light tile?”). He also remarked on the mountainous terrain, stating,”that’s nice that we’re going into the mountains.I didn’t like the flat part at all.”
Further adding to the family dynamic, Jaap was critical of Martien’s attempt at an “Italiano” look, specifically a painted mustache. ”Hey, what do you look like?” Jaap questioned. “This doesn’t look good…Cut it out. Shave that thing off, you look twenty years older.”
Despite the initial critiques, a truce was called, with a playful agreement made over rosé: positivity would be rewarded with food. The family acknowledges their “real-life soap” is nearing it’s conclusion but hasn’t ruled out a future return to television.
Chateau Meiland: La Dolce Vita airs Mondays at 8:30 PM on SBS6.
