Prague, Czech Republic – A new Czech horror game, Parliament, is generating buzz online with its darkly comedic take on the nation’s political landscape. Developed by Richard haraším, the game casts the Czech Chamber of Deputies as a terrifying labyrinth players must navigate after dark.
Players assume the role of a protagonist tasked with locating ten “real” political promises hidden within the offices of Czech deputies. However, they must evade caricatures of prominent politicians who patrol the halls, attempting to overwhelm players with unfulfilled pledges. According to Haraším, the game’s environments are based on the actual layout of the parliamentary building, with randomized object and enemy placement ensuring a unique experience with each playthrough.
Parliament blends the visual style of classic horror with satirical elements specific to the Czech Republic, including references to cultural touchstones like bread with steak, socks with sandals, beloved beer, and lost bitcoins.
A demo version is currently available for free on Steam. Early reviews highlight the game’s accomplished combination of black humor and a chilling atmosphere, capturing public frustration with Czech politics in a way that’s likely to raise eyebrows among lawmakers. The game appeals to both horror fans and those interested in social satire.
