From Screens Small to Silver: YouTube Stars Finding Success on Television
A growing number of digital creators are successfully transitioning from YouTube stardom to customary television roles, captivating audiences across multiple platforms. Several personalities who initially gained recognition through online video content are now appearing in prominent TV series and shows, demonstrating the evolving landscape of entertainment.
This shift highlights a new pathway for performers, leveraging established fan bases and creative skills honed online.Julia Beautx, 26, began her YouTube channel in 2013, focusing on beauty, DIY projects, and hauls, while simultaneously pursuing an acting career. Since 2017, she has appeared alongside Simone Thomalla, 60, in the ZDF series “Spring,” and took on a leading role in the 2023 ZDF drama “Yesterday we were still children.” Beautx further expanded her reach by competing in the 16th season of RTL’s “Let’s Dance,” achieving second place with professional dancer Zsolt Sándor Cseke, 37. she continues to maintain an active YouTube presence with 2.7 million subscribers.
Nilam Farooq, 36, also found success in acting after building a YouTube channel, “daaruum,” from 2010 to 2017, where she covered lifestyle, beauty, and travel. Farooq has since deleted her videos to focus solely on her acting career. Comedian Torge Oelrich, 37, known online as Freshtorge, has been creating YouTube videos since 2009 and gained a ZDFneo sketch comedy show, “Lonely Hearts,” based on his online characters. Julien Bam,36,has also transitioned to television,with his work now available on Prime Video.
