SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Sam Houston women’s tennis team heads to the Bobcat Tennis complex this weekend to compete in the States Up Slam, hosted by texas State, marking the conclusion of their 2025 fall season.
The two-day tournament, begining Saturday at 9 a.m., will pit the Bearkats against UT Arlington, St. Mary’s (TX), UTSA, and the host Texas State in a round-robin format featuring both singles and doubles play. This event serves as a final competitive possibility for Sam houston to assess player development and build momentum before the start of the dual-match schedule in January.
The tournament schedule includes one round of doubles and two rounds of singles on Saturday, followed by two rounds of doubles and one round of singles on Sunday.Representing Sam Houston will be Ella Fitcher, Isabella Garza, Christine Jevicky, Anamaria Kurtsikashvili, and Sara Sadadinovic in singles competition. Nayuma Subba and Jacqueline Schnabel will be sidelined for the weekend.
“We are really happy with how well the ladies have performed this fall,” said Bearkat head coach Rob Hubbard. “Everyone has been working hard and has shown much betterment in both singles and doubles.”
The States Up Slam follows a series of fall events for the Bearkats, including the Rice Invitational, ACU Invitational, ITA Regionals hosted by TCU, and the Bearkat Invitational. Sam Houston’s 2026 spring schedule will include matches against several ranked opponents and a challenging Conference USA lineup.
“The players have worked hard on their conditioning this fall and have displayed better and better play each week,” Hubbard added. “We look forward to ending the fall on a high note.”
