BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women’s Soccer team is gaining national recognition as the postseason approaches, appearing in the first NCAA Division II Central Region rankings as a team “under consideration” released Wednesday.
The Beavers (10-2-3, 8-1-3 NSIC) also cracked the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 National Poll, receiving votes for the first time this season. United Soccer Coaches’ regional rankings place BSU fourth in the central Region.
bemidji State has surged recently, winning its last four matches and going unbeaten in eight straight (6-0-2). Currently second in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings with 27 points,the Beavers have three regular-season matches remaining,beginning with road contests at Northern State University on Friday and University of Jamestown on Sunday.
Bemidji State university sponsors 15 varsity athletic programs. Its men’s hockey team competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, while its women’s hockey team is a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. The remaining 13 programs, including women’s soccer, compete in NCAA Division II within the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
