Drake and Fellow Streamer Face Lawsuit Alleging Deceptive Promotion of Online Casino
Rapper Drake and streamer Kai Cenat are named in a new class action lawsuit filed in missouri, alleging they misled teh public about their online gambling activities with Stake.us, a platform offering casino-style games. The suit claims the pair falsely presented themselves as regular users risking their own money while promoting the site, possibly targeting vulnerable audiences including teenagers.
The lawsuit asserts that Drake and Cenat have received millions of dollars from stake to livestream gambling sessions that were “under deeply fraudulent pretenses.” Plaintiffs allege the influencers did not gamble with their own funds as they implied to viewers in Missouri and other states. This deceptive marketing practice, the complaint argues, specifically targets young people.
The legal action comes days after Drake posted a video on social media showcasing a $1 million balance in his Stake.com account, prompting a response from the platform. The timing of the post, three days after Drake’s 39th birthday on October 24, has drawn further scrutiny.
According to the filing, Stake’s influencer marketing strategy, especially through Drake and Cenat, is aimed at attracting users, including minors, in Missouri and across the country. The lawsuit alleges that when the celebrities appeared to gamble on Stake.com, they often did not use their own money despite publicly stating otherwise.
Drake previously publicly accused Stake of blocking his attempts to withdraw funds in August, but the platform responded to his recent Instagram post stating, “We never left,” and offering birthday wishes. The lawsuit seeks damages for alleged financial harm caused by the deceptive promotion of the online casino.
