Essen,Germany – A new interactive crime experience has launched at the International Christmas Market in Essen,transforming the festive event into a real-life mystery game. “Der Glühwein-Krimi,” or “The Mulled Wine Crime,” invites teams to solve a captivating case amidst the twinkling lights and seasonal aromas of the market, offering a unique choice to conventional Christmas activities.
The outdoor escape game, a collaboration between EMG and RuhrEscape GmbH, provides an immersive experience unlike any typical escape room.Participants navigate authentic locations within the Christmas market,engaging with characters and unraveling clues as they delve into a compelling narrative filled with humor and intrigue.”The ‘Glühwein-Krimi’ is a wonderful way to spend time with family,friends,or colleagues while enjoying the unique atmosphere of the International Christmas Market,” explains Nicola schwedt,EMG project manager for the game.

Teams of 2 to 50 people can participate throughout the market’s run, from November 14th to December 23rd. The game is available in both German and English, making it ideal for international team-building events and holiday celebrations. A separate, alcohol-free version titled “Operation Winterkrone” is also offered specifically for school groups.
Pricing varies based on group size. Groups of 2-5 people pay €29.95 for the approximately 90-minute experience. Larger groups (6-50 people) can opt for a Team Package at €15 per person, which includes free game materials, a competitive duel mode, and a complimentary mulled wine or non-alcoholic punch.School classes can participate for €8 per student.
