Pisa Hosts Open Day Focused on Women’s Health During Menopause
Pisa, Italy – Women in the Pisa area will have access to free health assessments and expert consultations at an Open Day dedicated to menopause, held on Wednesday, October 29th at the Casa della Salute (via Garibaldi 198). The event, organized by the North West Tuscany Local Health Authority, aims to address the multifaceted health needs of women navigating this important life stage.
The Open day coincides with World Menopause Day, celebrated annually on October 18th, and builds upon previous initiatives promoting female well-being. Consultants recognize menopause as a crucial period impacting not only reproductive health, but also increasing risks of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis.
The event, spearheaded by Francesca Guarneri, director of the Pisa primary care functional unit, and Serena Batini, clinical coordinator of the Casa della Salute, will feature a multidisciplinary team including Patrizia Monteleone, head of the Pisa consultancy functional unit; counseling psychologist Linda Pieracci; Elena Griesi from Public Hygiene and Nutrition; and Lara Braccini, head of the Pisa Sports Medicine unit.
Attendees can freely access a range of activities throughout the day:
* General Practitioner Visits: Cardiovascular risk stratification, cancer screening promotion, and preventative care (10:00 AM – 6:00 PM).
* Free Vaccinations: Available from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
* Specialist consultations: Short consultations with a gynecologist and counseling psychologist offering in-depth facts on menopause-related topics (9:00 AM – 1:00 PM,booking recommended).
* Nutritional Assessment: Evaluation of weight status, personalized dietary recommendations, and education on healthy eating (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, booking recommended).
* ‘Menopause and movement’ Workshop: An in-depth session (2:30 PM – 4:00 PM, limited to 20 participants, booking required) followed by a group walk at 4:00 PM.
