Borussia Mönchengladbach targeting Orlando City’s Marco Pašalić
Mönchengladbach, Germany – Bundesliga bottom-dwellers Borussia Mönchengladbach are reportedly pursuing Orlando City forward Marco Pašalić, according too Sky Sport Germany. The 26-year-old Croatian international, a former Borussia Dortmund talent, has become a key figure in Major League Soccer and could offer a much-needed offensive boost to a struggling Gladbach side.
Pašalić joined Orlando city in febuary for a reported €4.8 million transfer fee after a successful stint wiht NK Osijek where he became an international player and contributed to a league and cup double last season. he has quickly established himself as a pivotal player in Florida, registering 15 goals and six assists in 40 appearances. Mönchengladbach’s interest arrives as the club desperately seeks to address its offensive woes,having scored a league-low six goals alongside 1. FC Heidenheim.
The potential transfer hinges on meeting Pašalić’s current market value, recently assessed at a career-high €6 million in an updated MLS valuation. His contract with Orlando City runs through 2027, with an additional option for a further year, and he currently earns approximately €1.4 million annually.
New Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director rouven Schröder recently indicated a willingness to strengthen the squad if the “right player” becomes available,though he emphasized a primary focus on defensive improvements. “We can still improve in quality defensively. If it’s the right player, perhaps in anticipation of the summer, then the management is in a position to say that we’re happy to do that,” Schröder stated to Sky. He also suggested a potential reduction in squad size to increase competition for places.
