Porto-Novo, Benin – The Higher Regional School of Magistracy (ERSUMA) of the Organization for the Harmonization of business Law in Africa (OHADA), in collaboration with the Artificial intelligence and african Law Forum, will host an international conference examining the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) in Africa. The event, scheduled for October 22 and 23, 2025, will be conducted entirely via videoconference and aims to foster a multidisciplinary dialog between lawyers, political scientists, economists, and sociologists.
The conference seeks to analyze the current state of AI growth on the continent, its associated challenges, and future prospects. organizers state the event is designed as an open forum for discussion, welcoming academics, researchers, computer scientists, legal professionals (including magistrates, notaries, and bailiffs), economic operators, policymakers, private sector representatives, civil society members, and students.
Presentations will primarily be in French, with simultaneous translation available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese - the official languages of OHADA.
